AirBackups is built for anyone who relies on Airtable to run their business. If losing your data, your configurations, or your records would be a serious problem, you need a backup solution. It's especially useful if you want to track exactly what your base looked like at a specific point in time, or if you want a safety net against accidental deletions.

We are Airtable developers ourselves — we spend most of our time building Airtable solutions for clients. We know the platform inside and out, which means AirBackups is purpose-built for Airtable's specific data model. We don't try to back up everything; we back up Airtable the right way.

Backups run automatically once a day. You can also trigger a manual, on-demand backup at any time, with no limit on how many you run.

We store your backups for up to 5 years. To make that storage sustainable while still giving you meaningful history, we use an exponential retention model: recent backups are kept at high frequency (every day), but the further back you go, the more space there is between retained snapshots. Think of it like a zoom-out effect — you get fine-grained history for recent weeks, and broader monthly or quarterly snapshots as you go further into the past. You always have a restore point, no matter how far back you need to go.

You can export your data in the following formats: your records and data as XLSX (one sheet per table, plus a dedicated sheet for record comments) or JSON, your base schema as XLSX or JSON, and your attachments as a ZIP file.

All your data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption, one of the most robust encryption standards available. On the access side, AirBackups connects to your Airtable account via the official OAuth connection — our app is approved by Airtable. We only request read access, meaning we can never modify or delete anything in your bases.

Not automatically — restoring data into Airtable is a manual process, as Airtable does not currently provide a native import-from-backup mechanism. However, we are happy to assist you through the restore process. Reach out to our support team and we'll guide you step by step.

Every Airtable record has a unique, permanent record ID. AirBackups preserves these IDs in all exports, so you can always match a backed-up record precisely to its counterpart in your live base — even after edits or partial deletions.
